Google Pixel after the Pixel / Pixel XL family of late 2016, Google has confirmed to prepare Google Pixel 2 that will arrive at the end of the year and will remain on a premium segment.

The Korean site revealed that Google has proposed to invest 1,000 billion won (880 million US dollars) in the LG’s screen department to ensure that there would be enough OLED screens to be next phone. If that’s really the case, it may also mean that the screen of Google’s next flagship phone will have a curved screen, maybe even that there’s going to be a Pixel smartwatch, who knows?

The news comes from Rick Osterloh, Google’s senior vice president of hardware, via AndroidPIT. Osterloh could not announce a release date for the successor to the Pixel but confirmed plans for the new smartphone lineup.

“There is an annual rhythm in the industry. So, you can count on us to follow it. “Osterloh said to AndroidPIT.”You can count on a successor this year, even if you do not hear a date from me now.”

Osterloh also confirmed Google would keep the Pixel 2 at a similar premium price. Right now, the Google Pixel’s retail hardware starts at $ 649 and phones with a lower price.

The news comes as Google finds the Pixel smartphone series in a tricky position. Since its release last fall, the Pixel and Pixel XL have earned strong marks from reviewers but the smartphones have been plagued by inventory issues and have often been out of stock.

While Google has dabbled with a more direct hardware role in the past through the Nexus series, the Pixel is a fact flagship device for the company. For Google, the company has a lot more hands-on approach during the design and hardware development process. As the Pixel 2 targets the same upscale audience, it’s clear that Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy series.

The Google Pixel / Pixel XL series launched at the end of 2016 made it possible to formalize the availability of the Android 7.0 Nougat platform and was a new form of partnership more advanced than in the case of Nexus devices.

Google has put a little more of its in the design of the new Pixel family which has also benefited from features and services not available on other upgraded smartphones to Android Nougat.

It should be noted that smartphones are still only distributed in a small number of markets, such as a test of Google’s ability to organize a smartphone production and distribution channel.

Logically, a new Google Pixel 2 family is expected to be released this year, and Rick Osterloh, hardware manager at Google, confirmed it again at MWC 2017.

The new series of smartphones Pixel 2 will be launched later in the year and should maintain a premium position, undermining the rumor of a lighter version of smartphones or a possible launch of Pixel smartphones in emerging markets.
